Comcast gets my vote for worst company in America for choking broadband P2P connections and then denying that they do this, even in the face of overwhelming evidence. They then seeded a hearing on the matter with their own employees to prevent genuinely interested citizens from getting seats. On top of all this, they are ridiculously expensive - I have digital cable with HD and broadband internet and my monthly bill is over $180.00.

I know you’re the consumerist, but what if the government or companies want to come to your site to see which companies they shouldn’t consume products/services from because they suck? In order to appropriately inform the government and companies who they should not do business with, you’ll need to add big military contracting companies like Haliburton, you’ll need to add companies that poison food like Monsanto, you’ll need to add companies that manufacture weapons of mass destruction like Raytheon. You also don’t have Chrysler, who for some dumb-ass reason, won’t come out with a fuel efficient Wrangler so I can enjoy the environment without being a hypocrite. I have to drive around in a chick-car because I care about the environment and care about lessening our dependence on oil. I don’t want to drive a chick-car. I want to drive a bio-diesel Wrangler while eating not poisoned food knowing that our government is producing less weapons and letting other countries re-build themselves, especially when they already have the means under their ground.

CompUSA was pretty bad….people voted with their wallets and they are now defunct.

I agree, haliburton should be on the list. This should really be multiple choice. Charter and Sprint are almost a tie for me. Sprint was actually ‘firing’ its’ customers and Charter is staffed with warm bodies. Took me 20 phone calls and about 15 chat sessions to get my service set up right with Charter. Even then they still messed up the first bill…

They just sat down and thought of all the name brands they could within the 1.5minutes it took to make the poll and left it at that. First of all Many of the companies above are subsidiaries of others (Best buy owns: Fry’s and Geek Squad). Also, many companies left out that should have been on there, like how does DeBeers, or some random pizza shop make the list but Circuit, and Verizon do not. Taylor, Bean, and Whitaker is the worst company I have ever dealt with…BY FAR. I know, they are like a tenth of the size of Countrywide (another mortgage company). But, 10% of size with 10 times the headaches equals 100 times worse in my book. I won’t bore you here about all the details of losing my account, not sending statements, aplying invalid late fees, sending automated messages statin “we need to talk to you” with an 800 number for a response that has no way to get to a real person, only options about what you are calling about. Anyway, if you ever have a chance to get a loan from them, don’t.

I concur with several of the above comments. Halliburton is spending our tax money horribly. They have neither respect nor regard for the American citizenry. Perhaps you excluded them because they get our money through government contract, rather than direct consumer spending. I should like to point out, however, that they do serve a customer, the United States Government. Since the customer is embodied with “We the people”, rather than nobility, they should be held accountable to the same standards we expect for a pair of pants. They fail, in every assessment of their performance. If they made pants they would cost too much, break apart at the seams, and give you skin cancer. They hurt America, and they don’t care.

This is such a crap poll. If they actually added all of the despised companies people are commenting, it would be interesting. Nice comment, Alex, the drug companies are definitely an oversight. What about Tyson chicken, and whatever company owns that cow plant where they tortured the cows with forklifts. Yes, I agree, Best Buy sucks, and Comcast is crap, too, but at least they are not torturing animals as part of their business plan. At least they aren’t lobbying the FDA to continue to allow poisons into the food supply that they can “fix” with drugs. What about Coca-Cola? They’re product was arguably healthier when it had cocaine in it. Maybe if they got rid of the high-fructose corn syrup and added back the cocaine, the child-onset diabetes problem would go away. Maybe kids would pay a little more attention in class and not have to take Adderol and Ritalin because they are getting dosed at breakfast and lunch. Then the kids would learn more, and not be dumbasses like our generation who starts wars and drives around in Ford Excursions with yellow ribbon stickers supporting our assault on other countries. Maybe the kids would get so smart that they wouldn’t fall for our military profiling poor schools to get new recruits for the army– and they wouldn’t need rich Excursion drivers to “support” them by buying two dollar stickers that are made in China by child slaves. Maybe.

I believe that Best Buy is the worst company because I have bought Windows Vista at the store and brought it home and tried to install. Of course I kept getting the BSoD. I took it back with my computer and explained the issue with one of their supervisors. She says that they won’t install it on my computer because they have nothing to do with Microsoft. I explained to them that I’m willing to pay their overpriced fees ,and maybe more, to have it installed. She still said no. I told her fine, then refund me my money then I will be on my way. She explained that she can’t do that because of the whole piracy issue. Then I told her to exchange it for a different Windows Vista because Im thinking that maybe its a bad file in the disc. She still said no. I explained to her that on the reciept that I am obligated to recieve an exchange on software just as long as it’s within the 30 days. Now here’s the juicy part. She told me if I don’t stop yelling at her and leave her store that she will call the cops. I told her Im not yelling. That Im talking as calm as possible and asking her politley to exchange the software. Then she told one of her “customer service” reps to call the cops. Then I said you damn bitch then left.

The good part of this story is that I got Windows VIsta installed thanks to a real geek from Circuit City. He explained that I should bring the computer down to the minimum requirements for Windows. Basically 1 gig of memory, 1 hard drive, no TV tuner, and no Wireless adapter. Basically it worked.

Fuck them all. I’ve had bad experiences with most of them; and there are plenty more that belong on the list. Stop using their services (or lack of) if you can. Tell all of your relatives, friends, neighbors and even strangers what they have done to you and will most likely do to them! Again, fuck them all. Write all of these companies public relations and corporate offices and tell them why you are leaving or left them; put the pressure on them in numbers, (lost customers and lost profits/revenues). If we all work together we CAN make a difference. Pay attention to who you patronize, it counts! Please make this list much larger and let everyone vote up or down for every corporation or business on it. Spread the word and the results people. The corporations and politicians have fucked us and the world, lets take it back! It is “OURS, not theirs”. Live in peace and love your neighbor but fuck the corporations and greedy politicians. Stay happy and don’t let any of this “eat you up”. Love your family and friends and go outside and play. You don’t need to buy most of the “crap” that they are selling anyway. Enjoy YOUR life.

Boingo.com $21.95 isn’t bad for a wifi roaming service right? Wrong. There’s “premium” locations, and in these “premium” locations you will be charged. They do not disclose to you before you choose your plan, how much the premium charges are. I remember it being somewhere between .15 and .20 cents a minute but since they have hidden that price so well on their site (i’ve just searched it and am unable to find it even in their terms and service.)

You CAN NOT SEE YOUR AMMT OWED IN YOUR ACCOUNT SCREEN. They will show you minutes (premium) used, and NOT how much it is per a minute, and not how much they are going to bill your credit card.

They billed me $700 dollars, and after calling 3 times and escalating as high as I could, I was told there was nothing they would do at all.

Hidden prices, hidden billing, hidden premium locations. It’s like playing the you get screwed lottery blindfolded.

You tell me why they would show premimum minutes used in your account screen, and have NO LOCATION to see money owed, or cost per minute. The worst company I have ever been robbed by.

My vote is for Best Buy/HSBC. I paid them every month on time and every month they would call me, at 8am on Saturdays, nonetheless, and tell me I didn’t pay and threaten me. Then after like 4 months, they finally figured out they were putting my payments towards somebody else’s account and wouldn’t reimburse me. Freakin’ joke of a company.

Do you guys even know that BP created middle east terrorism?

They were then called the Anglo-Persian Oil Company. Because of them a Democratic and USA friendly Iran was turned into a dictatorship by a tyrant Shah and was later overthrown by the Islamic revolution which has bred hate for the USA ever since. The CIA’s 1953 coup of Iran’s Prime Minister to allow BP free access to Iranian oil forever changed the relationship between the middle-east and the west. The reason Iranian students took over the US embassy and took hostages in 1979 was the fear that the 1953 CIA coup was about to repeat as the Shah had just entered the USA and caused major concern in Iran. If you don’t believe any of this, then read All The Shah’s Men or Overthrow by Stephen Kinzer or just look it up on Wikipedia right now.

BP is by far THE MOST EVIL company in the world. As we speak they are in litigation to dump their garbage in Lake Michigan. Wake up.

Good Night and Good Luck.

What about Five Guys? Their burgers are so dry, that I needed 3 glasses of Ice tea to wash it down. The french fries are good, but to offer burgers and dogs only?

EVERY company that sells that cheap Chinese JUNK! This includes clothes, shoes, junk jewelry, medicine, and electronics.

When is this country going to wake up, and forbid companies from buying this crap from China. Can’t we make shoes here? Check to see where your shoes are made. I have made up my mind this year that I am looking for shoes made in Europe, if I can’t find any made in the USA.

Macys. They don’t pay well, and yet they are always begging their employees for money to donate to charities so they can look like the hero. They over work the employees especially during holidays. They are a “white wash” company. They make their buildings look all great, visuals, services etc withthe money they make…but they don’t give their employees hours, or good raises. They have half-dead employees still working after 30 years of employment cuz they are paying bills after having spouses die…. They hire and fire left and right. Their hiring process is more like working with cattle. They hire as many people as possible so that it “looks” like Macy’s isn’t understaffed. Ahh, but alas they are cuz these people only work 12 hours a week and have no idea what they are doing cuz they don’t get real experience. These same people are left alone in departments while the half dead employees are on their day off. Also, they like to hire in order to fire…like I said it’s like raising cattle. They hire anyone cuz they are will fire you anyway. Or give you as little hours as possible so you will quit. (Many companies do this) They also set people up so they aren’t firing you without a legit cause. Otherwise a former employee would be able to sue. It’s sad….

Well I’m glad to see United Health Care is loosing value. Their service is seriously pathetic, and after many calls and escalating our group plan issues, through the broker, the GA and directly, they still can’t get the administration right, don’t respond, deny errors, duplicate errrors, wow it’s horrendous!

EMC Apex, North Carolina is a horrible place to work. It’s the first time that I have experienced racism. We have a black plant supervisor that treats blacks better then whites. It should be equal but it’s far from it. This particular plant treats the workers on the floor like garbage. Pay is low, no bonuses (except for management), use of intimidation and consistant threats regarding losing our jobs. We would not wish this on anyone!
